Open Question: Please Take My Cash! What's Your Answer?

To Whom It May Concern, When my husband paid our electric bill yesterday,Feb 13, 2012 Talquin Electric told him, effective May 1, 2012, it would no longer accept cash as a means of payment. He was told this was due to security reasons. I called and spoke with a Talquin Electric representative and explained to her that my husband and I pay cash for everything we purchase. We don't use checks, debit cards, credit cards, cashier's checks, or e-payments. I asked the representative what would happen if I tried to use cash to pay our bill after May 1, 2012 and was told our payment would be refused. I told the representative that didn't seem right as I would be using Federal Currency and was told Talquin Electric has the right to refuse currency as it is a private company. I looked up the Coinage Act of 1965 as the basis (it States that they are not mandated to acept cash) That is Talquin Electric's decision. I read the Act and it reads that if you are a private company you do not have to accept currency as payment. This is not a private company it is a coop which is members owend. In addition, there are a lot of people that pick not to have checking accounts or credit cards or are on a fixed income some or unable to open a banking act. and find it difficult to afford the money to purchase a cashier's check every month in order to pay their electric bills. Another "solution" the representative offered me was for me to go to Centennial Bank in Wakulla to make cash payment. This is not only inconvenient but expensive considering the cost of gasoline today. Why should the banks take on the resposablity of being the middle man for them. The representative told me Talquin Electric will not change this policy unless state or federal laws mandate it for them to accept currency as payment. I have started a petition seeking these mandates to change the law, and have over 800 Hand signatures in 5 days by myself ( I plead for your help!). Consumers are not allowed to "store" electric utility companies but must accept the company providing service to their area. If a Company provides service to the public and has a monolopy on that service they should have to acept cash if that is the way the customer wants to pay. Oftentimes this makes the consumer feel powerless, and to have a policy change of this nature furthers the feeling of powerlessness and loss of rights. I intend to stand up for my rights as a citizen in this matter and would appreciate your help in fighting for me and my fellow Floridians rights and the rights for every US Citizens. I've been thinking of moving out of my parent's home for quite a while. I'm 25 and im a female and I just finished college. Ive been wondering what would it be like if I move out. Im single btw. I have around 50,000 dollars saved up in my bank from my job. You're probably wondering how did I pay for college. I had a full scholarship. I figured back when I was 18 and started working that I should keep as much money as I can. Now that I finished college I think im ready to move out but im not so sure. I got my master's degree in geology, and I applied online for a geologist job and just this morning they told me I got accepted. But its 200 miles away and I dont have a boyfriend or anyone that would move in with me. It pays extremely well though, and I really like this nice of thing. So anyways, I graduated with a 3.77 GPA. Excuse me for every the details. every I want to know is if living alone is tough? I just wanna know if I can make it on my possess, because ive been living with my mom for too long now.. she doesn't make me pay rent or anything. She just demands that I buy my possess food, which I do. She gave me the whole basement to live in so, its like no interaction with my parents at every. Plus, our noise is right next to my university which is really neat. Maybe I could to back and study some more. I dont know what I wanna do!! Please help!! Should I stay with my parents or should I move out where I can receive a nice job that pays well that I know that I adore? I forgot to mention that my parents told me that if anything at every were to happen to them, they said that I can keep the home and everything in it because my older brother moved out when he was 19 and they haven't heard a single word from him since. But they told me that the home is even in their will. They just told me to promise not to sell it. I can live with that! They've had this home since before I was born. It's beautiful, it's really HUGE. My basement room, is more than enough for me, I think I'm gonna be staying. :) They just told me every this. It made me so glad. It helped me make up my mind!! :D I'm going back to school for a couple of years and looks like I will find a nearby geology job. PLUS!! Resolved Question: Getting my Young Adult Novel Published?

I have written a young adult novel and am currently in the process of editing it. I'm 19 years old myself, and am trying to decide between getting it published the traditional way and have it sold in a bookstore.. or self publishing it and having it sold online on Kindle etc. I'm leaning towards the second option because of the simple fact that my target audience spends majority of their time online, and I can receive every the money myself and have it paid straight to my account. I can network so much online with Facebook, Twitter, making a book trailer for Youtube etc and receive people to buy the book who don't usually read. What do you think?

Open Question: Worthless 17 year old, no job.?

I feel worthless and extremely stressed out. I'm 17 years old and every store or quick food restaraunt I go to, it seems like you have to be 18 to work. It's starting to dig at me because lately my dad with hint at me to receive a job. Right now I go to online school and every I do is sit in my room, I don't have friends (lost touch with them) so I don't really ever go out. My mom barely makes money so me and her together thrive off of what she gets. My dad works, makes money, but he uses that for his owns pleasures and keeping a roof over our heads. Which I'm appreciative of. I'm in the last semester of my senior year so I'll graduate in June. I'm scared though because I don't know what to do about college or if I'll even have a job at the time. I'm also socially awkward and very silent so going into a store looking for a job is very, intimidating to me. I tried job hunting a couple months ago but gave up. I feel very useless right now and I'm going out tomorrow and later on this week to look around. I also don't have my social security card and don't know how to receive another. But I'm going to fix up my resume and cover letter and try tomorrow. What are some tips? What else can I do? I really need a job =( I'm willing to do anything. Open Question: College Help. Veterinary School.?

Well, I know there were a lot of questions that have already been asked about this subject, but I guess I don't really have any set questions. I'm a sophomore in High School, and like every other Normal Stereotyped(Not the ones who do drugs or party every day and such) American High Schooler, I'm lost. I'm lost, and I don't know. I've changed my mind serveral times, but it's always been based around the same science. At first I wanted to be a zoologist throughout middle school, then I got into Marine Biology by 9th grade. Now here I am, wanting to be a Veterinarian. I adore animals, I always have. It's kinda silly, because when I was a kid I remember how everyone wanted to be one. In elementary school, being a Vet was everyone dream. Well, working with animals is what I do best and what I've always wanted to do. It's what I'd be natural in. I would like to go to UF, that is my goal. It's not my dream school, to be honest. I want to go to North Carolina. But I wouldn't receive In-State tuition and scholarships and such. Paying for it, I'm not too worried. I'm sure there are a lot of opportunities for college money. I really would like to live in North Carolina. I know it's difficult. I'm not looking for easy, I'm looking for possible. I know that this is also nice of 'not likely', I'm not thinking 'realistically'. I know. I've been told. But I'd like to open up my possess clinic, I'm not a big fan of working for people. I know that makes me sound like a huge ass, or stuck up, or whatever else you'd like to say. I was thinking of getting business credits because I would like to do it. I know it's not impossible, and as long as it's possible I'm aiming for it. My grades aren't great. I'd like to receive into a state college, rather than a community right after high school. I was thinking of taking a bunch of online classes and trying to receive some credits up so I can have some free college. Duel enrollenment. I know online classes are 'difficult', but as I've stated. I don't care for difficult, I want possible. What I'm looking for right now is advice so I can achieve what I'm aiming for. I know I should talk to my counsilor, but she's nice of a bitch and the only thing I can receive out of her is sites I've already been through and read, and the online classes. My GPA is approxiemetely 3.0. Not good enough... If I made straight A's for the next two years, would I be able to receive into a state University? What are some volunteer opportunities that might help me? I know I have to have 4 years before Vet school, and I looked at every the credits I needed. I really just want some advice...

Open Question: Family members touched me when I was a little girl. Now that I'm grown up, it is having effect on me.?

I don't know how old I was. Maybe 6? My uncle had me and my sister take a shower with him and take turns touching him. every I remember is a flash of his face and my sister touching him while I stood behind her. I remember being up to his belly button. Later on, (not a family member) I met a man online. I was 13 years old. Out of every person in that chatroom (AOL) that I could have talked to I ended up talking to a 24 year old guy that lived 6 miles away from me. He picked me up,took me for pizza and then raped me. Not viciously, but I was crying and he wouldnt cease until he was finished. He ended up dropping me off 2 miles away from home because he didnt want to hear me crying anymore. I walked into my home and my eyes were red. I was walking in to sob to my mom about what just happened and she smacked me immediatly B/C she thought I was high. I went to my room. A few months later, I was spending the night with my grandmother and my other uncle (drunk) came over and stood in the kitchen staring at me. I was uncomfortable but kept watching tv. He went home, called me (it was 1 AM) and wanted me to arrive over to iron his ties, if I did he would make me feel good. I hung up and went to snooze, but severly disturbed. When I was 15,my dads mechanic came over to work on my car I received when I got my driving allow. It was an older jetta.He wanted me to arrive outside and watch him so I could learn. No one was home. I sat in the passenger seat and he was fixing something below the steering wheel. He told me that if I have sex with him my dad wouldnt have to pay him money. For some reason, it didnt register with me. He wasnt saying the word "sex" but he was telling me I could do stuff for him. Then he grabbed himself. I went inside and sat on the sofa, really confused and scared. He came inside, grabbing himself, telling me to flash him my breasts. I kept saying no and he finally left. Jump to the age 19 and I was taking a shower. every of a sudden I got these flashes from when I was a little girl, remembering what my uncle did. I forgot about it because I was so young but the way I was standing in the shower it every came back to me. I was confused,violated,grossed out and thought "did I want that? Did I guide him on?" obviously not because I was about 6 and didnt know that was wrong. A few days later, I told my mom. She said with no emotion,"are you serious? i'm sorry". and went back to what she was doing. I told my sister and she didnt remember. A few months later I talked with her about it again and she remembered! But didnt show any emotion. Why was this effecting ME so bad and no one else? I left the subject alone. I dont know how many months later but I told my dad about his mechanic worker and what he did. His exact words were," Well, I cant flame him because he is a good mechanic and works for cheap. Just dont go around him." I felt so beat down because nobody cared what happened to me. My parents, especially my dad, are loving parents. My mom has a slight drug problem and so I contribute her emotionlessness to that. My dad, turns his cheek to certain things. I developed a severe prescription pill addiction for 4 years and after so long, I was sleepy of it. I hated relying on something to make me feel better and I told my dad,just my dad. He immediatly took action and the next day I was in the best outpatient rehab place that money could buy. He really did keep me with his support and not judging me. I am now engaged,clean,glad, and 4 months pregnant. I am with the man of my dreams and he is the best thing that ever happened to me. I couldnt be happier. But every those things that happened to me I think of daily. I have been to a therapist and it didnt help just "talking" about it. My question,I guess,is what can I do to help myself and my situation? I think about it everyday and I can't stand it. I think I'm just looking for some direction. But even writing this makes me feel a tad bit better. Whoever is reading this and comments, thank you in advance. Maybe I'm just looking for some advice from another mom or dad? I don't know.

I know, ive heard it a hundred times, you can't tell because it depends on the place. Yeah but I need a rough estimate on how much you make profit. I want to start a little side business to make some more money but I've looked online and found that just a 3 pound bag of m&ms costs 15 bucks. My girdlfriend and I have been together4 years next month and are having a baby boy within the next week. Well I was selling my xbox 360 120gb arcade, OLDER console, 2009 version with HDMI for 250 OBO, this guy calls 225 bucks, then I tell him there is not no 20-25 games. If anyone knows anything about xbox 360's, the older versions and power bricks are fucking junk. They weigh a lot and one time my mom had to pay 13-18 dollars to seal and boat a box correctly at USPS for a stupid toy. I would imagine shipping to cost 12-20 bucks for everything I was selling. Bottom line I only did the trade because he was sobbing about his kid, then we head to his car, he reaches in his glove compartment, oh gawd, I thought the dumb fuck was going to try to shoot me, hah, I'm trained in martial arts and he looked weak so if anything I would fuck him up and stole his money not him to me. He paid me 190 bam, the next couple of days he posts an ad without the couple games I give him and minus one controller, for a trade for a wii with games or a ps3 with games. LOL. really. I feel like I should give him a taste of his possess medicine and trade him my wii, but I feel like my wii will be sold online on ebay better. I'm not doing business on CL, I got my money and lesson time to move on. I could of made 60-100 dollars more than I made that day. I think he is hustling people to receive games which sell in bulk on ebay if you have tons of games 1000 dollars. Whatever I got my 190, minus 20 of course because my brother wanted some for his investments in the games. Is that considered getting hustled I did earned a lot of money, 190 for a console that is slowly leaving the planet of earth. These white boxes are every being sold cheap as well as games so I can care less. If anything I'll wait around and buy a new phone or xbox 360 slim with a sale of my wii on ebay. Craigslist is a dangerous place, people. Now do you think I got hustled or not? I think it's more so iffy since he did pay 190 for a bunch of used merchandise that is almost obsolete. Top 5 games and item in that bulk were Call of duty world at war, Burnout Paradise, Left 4 Dead (Original), Fable 2, and an old halo 3. Only thing of value that I'll miss is a 120gb difficult steer but it's w/e I got it for 20 bucks on sale, but it sells for 60 bucks. haha. I think I made an alright deal. It would of took me forever to make a profit off those junk games and xbox 360 if I hung on to it and I might have gotten one of those people on ebay who don't pay, most of the games were scratched and old. That's right I knew he was going to do something like that. He can keep every the shit I gave him. I'll use his money for a new phone, monitor, HDTV when Christmas and Black Friday comes around. I'm just glad I getting rid of junk because I had a lot of stuff in my room and now it's starting to look nicer. 190 isn't steep and I could of made more, but fuck it. Also never doing business on CL again, I know myself because I bought something for 65 bucks that was on discount and sold it for 80 bucks clean in a public place. CL is for the guy trying to make money quick or make money over someone haha.

Open Question: Need help on what to decide?

Well first thing you need to know about me is that I'm 17 years old. I'm getting a big sum of money this week ($7,000) and i had a idea to invest it into a little something that will earn me some cash. I want to make videos of gameplays on youtube. Now i look these videos everyday and the view count is unbelievable such a 50,000 views per video of a walk through of a game. So since its 1$ per 1,000 views thats 50 dollars right there. So i want to start doing this but i neither have a xbox/ps3 or a pc that can is good enough to play high end games... So I want to decide on what i should do and if i should do it at every. I did tons of research (For a month) to pick the parts to build my possess gaming computer but now that i think about it, i could keep money and buy a xbox or a ps3... The worse graphics is a downgrade but a gaming computer is $2,000 that will run games smoothly on high settings with fraps on. Now i want to make high quality videos of games on high quality settings which will attract people. Plus i have tons of stuff to talk about so i think it would work out well. Since my old desktop broke and i have only a labtop which will render and upload videos to youtube very slowly, i will have to receive a computer anyway. So should i buy a less expensive computer and buy a xbox/ps3 or buy a pc which will be able to do both... The pc will keep me money as i do pirate games often online. Open Question: Am I due a refund from my health insurance if I kept paying without knowing that the policy was canceled?

I've been with this health insurance company in the past 2 years. I've been paying the monthly premium online with my bank. For some reasons, there was a gap of one month payment in November. I didn't notice it, and didn't receive any cancelation notice. I kept making the payment December, January, and February. Yesterday, when I needed to look a doctor, my doctor's office called in and told me my policy was canceled in November. My agent discussed the issue with the insurance company and said my policy was going to be reinstated within 24 hours without fees. But then when I called in to verify my coverage before going back to the doctor, they said no, the reinstatement needs to be approved by the underwriter and there is $100 fee for that. I'm upset. I've been paying and not using it, and now when I need it, they are giving me the run around. Why did they accept my payments if my policy was canceled? why did they still send me bills with updated premium due every month if my policy was cancled? I'm not sure if I want to reinstate it, I want my money back now. Will I be able to receive the refund? Please advise!

Resolved Question: Failing classes, run away depression, and financial aid woes?

Well, I'm in a community college fiddling my thumbs. I have stress and depression issues that have just wiped me out completely. I'm afraid to leave my dorm and money problems are already gripping me by the throat and throttling the life from me. And I'm not even twenty. So heres the situation. Last semester I got three C's and one F. So my GPA is 1.48 and they require a 2.0 GPA to stay enrolled/in the dorms. So this semester I loaded myself up with classes and said 'I'm not going to fail!' when every of a sudden depression, stress, and anxiety sucker punched me in the gut and drained every motivation from my body. I'm not talking 'I'll walk the dog tomorrow' lack of motivation I'm talking 'I haven't eaten for two days, I'm starving. Theres food ten feet away from me buuut.. thats so far away. I just wont eat.' So I've been missing classes and my grades are bad. To top it off my parents have been putting unrealistic demands on me. They want me to arrive up with 5k in three months for whatever reason and tell me that I'm going to fail if I ever move out of their roof. They are trying to force me to move to Florida before the end of the school year because blah blah blah. I don't want to go there so I thought I'd go move to a place where I have friends, a market for a job that makes me glad, and other reasons. They got drunk and told me every the reasons why I'd fail in life and how I'm worthless just like everyone else in the world. To top it every off I'm pretty much dependent on Financial aid to go to school. If I flunk out this semester will I never be able to receive financial aid again? If I am able to return for a fall semester will I have to pay for it myself because of this semester? And if I drop the failing classes to (hopefully) salvage my GPA will they take away every the financial aid I got for this semester and leave me with the bill? Specially the bill for the cost of dorms. Thats nearly 2k! I just.. don't know what to do. I was thinking about dropping my classes and getting a full time job until the move. But if I receive sacked with the bill for this year then I don't know how I'll be able to afford the move. It's six weeks in and I might be able to transfer into one more online class that I'll be able to pass with. So far it's looking like I'll only pass two of my five classes. Three if I can switch. If I can switch I'll dump the least likely to pass class and try to half the other two as much as possible. Ugh. Edit: Just so you know, yes. I am below care of an actual psychiatrist. I've been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and it's even been called a form of autism before. I even go -blind- when I receive overly stressed in an ocular migraine. I only put so much information because I thought it'd help give me some viable information thats relevant for my position. So instead of telling me to grow up maybe actually answer my question. Unless you've ever had your drunken dad lecture you for three hours about how you're a worthless piece of filth who can't survive without him I don't think you know what a 'fad' problem is. I accept responsibility for what I've done wrong, but some things I just have to live with and try and keep my chin up. Look. I'm EXTREMELY frustrated right now.Like, it makes me sob. Let me tell you about it. I am money hungry! I need money! quick! But it seems like it's impossible for me to receive money. My parents don't want to give me money. They say I have to do chores for months to receive just $50. But, with my schedule, the amount of chores for that price is just not worth it. Okay. So. So I have to receive at least 2 hours of practice in each day. My schedule after school is just so packed. I don't even receive a chance to watch TV. Okay. So, that's why I can't have a real job. I wish I could play piano at church and weddings and stuff like that, but I don't know how to go about getting such jobs. Okay. But, anyways. I need money. And quick. I want to do online jobs. I would really adore to travel to a foreign country over the summer. I'm 17 years old (a senior in high school) and I've never left the States, yet I have a real thirst for learning about other cultures. Does anybody know of any study abroad or student exchange programs which offer very, very cheap prices for going overseas? My family really doesn't make a lot of money, I'm even on free lunch at school.
